I’ve worked within merch for the best part of 10 years, my main gig being the Kentish Town Forum but I’ve also toured with acts such as Foo Fighters and BTS as well as many festivals up and down the country. My favourite gigs that I’ve worked have been IDLES, Nine Inch Nails and a secret Prince gig. I am Fran and I have worked for CMI Ltd for the last 17 years. I have been in charge of the merchandise concession in all their London venues, Brixton Academy, shepherds Bush Empire and the forum in Kentish Town. Where to begin? I started as a merch person for friends in 2002, which very quickly became my full time job. I don't think I need to explain the impact that the Corona Virus has had on the live entertainment industry. My life as I knew it (along with my fellow crew members worldwide) has grinded to a halt. 2020 has been a very difficult year for us all. I haven't spent this much time in one place since before I started touring, so that's been a difficult adjustment. Hoping to see live music come back soon. I'd probably even be ok with a customer spilling his drink on my table, after repeatedly asking him not to do that.

I've been touring merchandise around the world for 15 years now and when I'm home and not touring you're likely to find me manning a merchandise stall in any number of venues and outdoor shows around the UK for one-off shows. I can't seem to keep away from it, it's an amazing job. Seeing the enjoyment and emotions that a gig can bring to an audience is the best part of the job for me. There's nothing like standing behind a merch stand rushed off your feet with the audience all buzzing with excitement. It's been so long there's no possible way I could remember the amount of tours and shows I've worked at! It's a job I love and to be unable to continue right now is a real kick in the teeth.
